Easter

Sarah celebrated her first Easter yesterday (doesn’t she look adorable in her Easter dress?). The Easter bunny brought her a basket filled with a “My First Easter” bunny, a bunny hooded bath towel, a Baby Einstein video, and an Easter book with her own picture in it! Dad and mom also bought her a Jumperoo as her new favorite thing is for us to hold her up so she can “stand” on her feet like the rest of us. The problem is that holding her that way gets tiring very quickly. The Jumperoo lets her “stand” as much as she wants and she can also bounce herself in it. Of course it lights up and plays music too so she loves it. Most of the day was spent relaxing at home and then we went to Papaw and Mamaw’s house for Easter dinner. Papaw and Mamaw bought Sarah some new spring outfits, her first bathing suit (hopefully it will get warm enough for her to use it soon), and a Move N’ Crawl ball for her to try to chase around. She loves the Move N’ Crawl ball-it lights up, sings, and moves around on its own (dad and mom love these features too because we don’t have to keep resetting it like a lot of her toys). The idea is to encourage her to crawl and it seems to be working-she squirms like crazy when it’s on. Sarah also got a stuffed lamb from Aunt Kari and Cousin Nico and a stuffed bunny with $2 in “bunny bucks” from Uncle Matt, Aunt Tracy, and Cousin Owen. All this just for Easter and she hasn’t even gotten her basket from Grandpa and Grandma C. yet!

In other news, Sarah has now mastered rolling from her tummy to her back whenever she wants, not just by accident. She now rolls over onto her back whenever she wakes up and once she is on her back she will not put herself back to sleep. We have had a few early mornings recently because of this. Luckily she usually will go back to sleep if we change her and put her back in her crib. She only rolls over to one side right now so we have found that if we put her close to the side of the crib she is unable to roll herself over. I hope she doesn’t figure out how to roll to the other side too soon because she refuses to sleep on her back and we’ve grown pretty accustomed to her sleeping for 10 to 12 hours in a row. One afternoon she got halfway over but ran into the side of the crib so when I went to get her up from her nap she was sleeping on her side-it was very cute! Now that she has mastered rolling one direction she is working hard to get from her back to her tummy. Of course going this direction is not as easy so she usually just ends up on her side for a while and then rolls back onto her back when she gives up. I can’t believe how much of this she is doing already. Pretty soon I’ll put her down in one spot and when I look again she’ll have moved across the room.
